Champions Crowned at the Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships

The climax of the Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships delivered spectators the opportunity to view the stars of today and tomorrow, in all their glory. The five-day show concluded with highlights featuring a thrilling World Ranking Al Shira’aa Grand Prix battle, and impressive young horse Championship Finals with the Windmill Farm Estates 6-year-old and Al Shira’aa 7 -year-old 2021 Champions crowned. 

British Breeding Excels at The Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships

A showcase of exceptional young talent at The Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships saw outstanding young talent perform in both the Ashdale Sports Horses 4-year-old and the Dallamires Stables 5-year-old Championship Final. Competitors jumped throughout the week aiming to reach their respective finals, with top placings in the 5-year-olds offering the opportunity to gain the all-important qualification to the FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken (BEL).

Best of British at The Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championship

Day three at the Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championship saw a strong contingent of exceptional young horses going head-to-head in the qualifying age classes in the iconic International Arena. On fabulous form with notable results posted from an unstoppable Laura Renwick, Joss Williams, Simon Crippen and Christopher Smith, the Championship finals promise to be a who’s who of elite sport horse breeding. 

Young Horses Impress at the Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships

Continuing with a second day of elite sport, the well-supported schedule at the Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships offered riders the opportunity to contest the young horse classes in pursuit of the highly sought-after qualification tickets for the FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken (BEL). The competitive programme of the day also included the Horseware Ireland CSI2* 1.30m and the Hunter Woodshavings CSI1* 1.25m, before closing the day with the impressive Al Shira’aa CSI2* 1.40m.

We can confirm that Nigel Coupe had a fall in the 7 year old qualifier at Bolesworth this afternoon.  He immediately received attention from our medical professionals on site.  He has now been transferred to hospital and is receiving the very best of care. Nigel’s horse Cut Above also received immediate veterinary attention on site, and as a precaution has been taken to a nearby centre of veterinary excellence for further assessment.  

Exciting Partnership as Al Shira’aa Return as Title Sponsor of the Bolesworth Young Horse Championship

Bolesworth are once again delighted to welcome Al Shira’aa as partners for the upcoming season. Following the success of the inaugural partnership in 2020, Al Shira’aa will be returning as title sponsors of the Bolesworth Young Horse Championships. The five-day show scheduled for 18th – 22nd August, includes the Official British Show Jumping Young Horse Championships and qualifiers for The World Breeding Championships (WBFSH) in Lanaken. In addition, as part of Al Shira’aa’s season wide commitment, they will also be supporting the young horse classes at the Dodson & Horrell Bolesworth International Horse Show.

Saturday afternoon saw the culmination of the 4YO and 5YO Championships, sponsored by Ashdale Sports Horses and Northcote Stud respectively.

Winning Wonderwoman Combo at Bolesworth Mini Major

Building on a successful Thursday, Emily Morris made it a winning start to Friday with her own Bean Cruising, bettering their third place in yesterday’s first round of the Equerry Horse Feed 1.00 Open. All attentions for them now turn to Saturday’s Championship. She claimed the class with an impressive four second lead over her nearest competitors, Arthur Hobby and Farah Jones, who in turn were five seconds clear of their closest rivals in this 80-strong section.

Al Shira'aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships 2020 - Day 1 and 2 Round Up

After two days of Young Horse qualifying rounds, we see 50 progressing into the Northcote Stud 5YO Championship and 66 coming forward into the Ashdale Sports Horses 4YO Championship, both to be held on Saturday.

Following Grandstand Media Limited’s recent cancellation announcement of Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) on the 2nd July a second announcement shortly followed that the Stoneleigh Horse Show, which hosts the HOYS showing qualifiers and runs alongside the British Showjumping National Championships (BSNC), would also therefore be cancelled.

BOLESWORTH GEARS UP FOR YOUNG HORSE CHAMPIONSHIPS BY PRESENTING THE AL SHIRA’AA SUMMER SERIES

There is an air of excitement in the equestrian world as the sport begins to resume under the new government and British Showjumping guidelines. Plans for the Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships (19th to 23rd August), and the Bolesworth Elite Foal Auction (21st August) are taking shape, with the necessary precautions being put in place to enable the event to run in line with social distancing guidelines.  

Al Shira’aa to Join Bolesworth in New World Class Partnership

Following the huge success of the inaugural event, the new partnership will centre on Al Shira’aa being the title sponsor for the 2020 British Young Horse Championships at Bolesworth.

The inaugural show hosted in the stunning grounds of Bolesworth Castle combined a young horse championship with WBFSH qualifiers for the finals at Lanaken, an AES Elite Foal Auction plus the opportunity to win a prize of a lifetime with every golden ticket.
