Bolesworth Elite Foal Auction is proud to be supporting Nature’s Safe, a groundbreaking charity, created by Stallion AI’s founder Tullis Matson, that works to safeguard the natural world by preserving cells and tissue for future regeneration.
The two charity lots in the Elite Foal Auction on Friday were semen, donated by the owners of the stallions, with the money raised going to Nature’s Safe.
Danielle Ryder kindly gave a straw of Escape Z’s semen. This stunning stallion is by Emerald Van’t Ruytershof, out of Promesse (who has Heartbreaker and Carthago lines). Escape Z has a long list of accolades with progeny now coming through including Ecclestone Z, National UK 4yo Champion.
Al Shira’aa also generously gave a straw of Chacco Bay’s semen, a stallion who’s competing at Bolesworth this week. By Chaccato, out of Hella, in 2019 Chacco Bay was silver medallist in the World Breeding Championship in Lanaken and was also Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships’ 6yo Champion in 2020.
What is Nature’s Safe?
“We’ve developed incredible technology for the breeding of horses,” said Tullis, “and it’s very transferable to wild species and the storage of cells. With 100 species going extinct each day, it’s so important we do the work now to preserve these cells for future regeneration. Every £100 we raise as a charity allows us to save the cells of one animal, and £5000 allows us to save a species.”
“We’ve worked hard to promote Nature’s Safe. We had HBO out filming just this week to find out more about what we do here. It really is making a difference and it all started because of our passion for equine breeding, allowing the best stallions to be preserved.”
Tullis’s involvement with the Elite Foal Auction and Bolesworth extends far beyond Nature’s Safe. In fact, the Stallion AI team is heavily involved in working behind the scenes preparing and handling the foals at the Elite Foal Auction.
“I really love Bolesworth and working with Nina too,” said Tullis. “It’s a great place to meet clients and network, a perfect opportunity to get together face to face rather than just over the phone.
“We also love seeing the horses in the Elite Foal Auction and beyond as a lot of them are connected to us in some way. They might be by a stallion that stands with us and then we get to see the progeny coming through. Seeing a foal we had a small part in in the Elite Foal Auction is a real achievement too.”
